This is a collection of light-hearted (fictional) stories written by philosopher Kurt Smith. Although short and funny, they are nevertheless geared to offer a serious critique of capitalism, which, as Mike Wallace discovers in his (fictional) interview with Ayn Rand (in Purgatory no less!), looks in the end to be a rather ugly form of feudalism. Smith, as the title suggests, imagines this collection of odd stories discovered by future people, during an archeological dig in search of a lost civilization known to them only as The United States of America. Reading more like fairy tales than anything, Smith wonders what such tales would reveal to those future generations about what it was like to have lived in twentieth-century America.
